How You Doin'?

Me: Great, I'm currently stuffin' my face with a piece of my homemade pecan pie...oh gosh, it's really good. I don't usually brag on my cooking but it really is good!

Mer: She's good, she's standing over here shakin' her boo-tay...her brother is helping her to count...5,6...5,6,7,8...shakin' her boo-tay!

Mr. Teen Testosterone: Got his allergy shots and grabbing a bite before Winterguard tryouts.

The Fat Dog: Trying to catch whatever drops on the floor.

So do tell, how you doin?

Operation Xmas!

You can click on the pic to see it more clearly.

Goodbye to Fall, Halloween & Thanksgiving!

We are in full Christmas Swing here at our house as you can see by the sign that Josh made to keep everyone in line for the next 48 hours.

If we can keep Marc off his computer (which by the way is really my *NEW* computer that he's conveniently hi-jacked) then we should get everything accomplished in the slotted timeframe!

I'm ahead of schedule in some areas:
Blog is changed to holiday~
Holiday bedding on the princess bed~
1 of the trees up and decorated~

Guess I should be off the computer so I can keep the boys in line and get the rest of my stuff done too!

I love the holidays and this is Meredith's first holiday season to be healthy and well!

Have a Great Day to anyone that passes through here!

Friday Feast

Appetizer
How much money do you plan to spend this upcoming holiday season?

It all depends, I'm trying to stick to a certain $ amount for the kids but that's the hardest thing for me to do!

Soup
What was the last television show you watched, and was it good?

24, yep...good as always!

Salad
If you had to paint the walls of your living room tomorrow, what color would you choose?

A nice khaki or red~

Main Course
Name something clever or practical you have thought of that should be invented, but hasn't yet.

Haven't a clue~

Dessert
List 3 things you would like to receive as gifts this holiday season.

Nothing.

My daughter had a major surgery in July and will be spending her first holiday season healthy & well.

I have my husband, my kids, everyone is healthy & happy...I've already had my Christmas.

Life is so sweet!

Have a Great Day to Anyone that passes through!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thought this was cute!

A Thanksgiving Poem

'Twas the night of Thanksgiving,
But I just couldn't sleep
I tried counting backwards,
I tried counting sheep.

The leftovers beckoned -
The dark meat and white
But I fought the temptation
With all of my might.

Tossing and turning
With anticipation
The thought of a snack
Became infatuation.

So, I raced to the kitchen,
Flung open the door
And gazed at the fridge,
Full of goodies galore.

I gobbled up turkey
And buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots,
Beans and tomatoes.

I felt myself swelling
So plump and so round,
'Til all of a sudden,
I rose off the ground.

I crashed through the ceiling,
Floating into the sky
With a mouthful of pudding
And a handful of pie.

But, I managed to yell
As I soared past the trees....
Happy eating to all -
Pass the cranberries, please.

May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump.
May your potatoes 'n gravy
Have nary a lump,
May your yams be delicious
May your pies take the prize,
May your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off of your thighs.

May your Thanksgiving be blessed!!

Coffee, Throw Up & A Joke or Two!

There we were, a family of four...sitting at Starbucks this afternoon...window table...gorgeous day...drinking our coffee, doing some people watching, talking, laughing, telling jokes...just having a great sunday afternoon.

Mer is always asking for some of my coffee and frankly I get tired of saying no so today I said yes, and I stupidly gave her too much of my white chocolate mocha...and she had some of her bubba's too.

She gets this look about her and I ask what's wrong...she gives a wretch and I looked at hubby...he looked at me...we decided that at least she could wretch and wondered if she could throw up. 50% of kids who have a Nissen Fundoplication can throw up and 50% can't.

We happened to have a short empty cup & lid sitting on the table and yep, she heaved into it...quietly, neatly, calmly and no one else around us even knew what was going on. We put the lid on the cup and disposed of it...quietly, neatly and calmly.

I guess we are well too well versed in throwing up and all that is associated with it.

She felt immediately better and we went back to having a great time.

I sure don't miss the days of her being sick and all that went it, another situation that reminded me of how very grateful I am to have my little girl healthy!

Gracias to Josh!

Josh is a great son~ (Josh, you might want to skip this post because I'm going to gush over you...and I don't want you to get embarrassed and yes, you still have to do whatever I tell you to do...k ;) He knows that I'm just a big kid and of course Meredith is a little kid so how fitting that he told me about the Disney on Ice Show being in town.

We rode the train downtown which is always fun for us, nothing like riding the subway in New York City nor will it ever be but it's as close as we can get here in Big D.

I still don't understand why people look at us like were nuts when we say were taking the train somewhere, like we've grown three heads or something. I prefer it, no traffic to bother with, no discussions over take this exit...no that one...if you've seen The Incredibles...the scene where Mr. & Mrs. Incredible are discussing er...arguing what exit to get off at...that's us to a "t" so on the train we don't have that little issue to deal with.

I love to look at the people on the train. Where are they going? Where are they coming from? What are they thinking about? What music are they listening to? Do they have kids at home? My mind never stops.

Meredith loves to show me each and every letter "M" that she can find on the train because of course they are all for Meredith and were put there just for her.

Anyhoo, we had a great time!

Meredith laughed outloud a lot. Big belly laughs. Head leaning back laughs. I loved watching her laugh. I loved watching her laugh far more than watching the show. She was so happy. Gleeful. Eyes bright and shiny watching everything so very closely.

She was sitting next to Josh so as I watched her laugh I could also see Josh and I was so grateful that he mentioned coming to the show.

Grateful that once again our family had an opportunity to do something fun together...making up for some of that lost time.

Thanks Bubba from Emme!

Josh...Thank you so much for telling me about the show, thanks for being such a wonderful son and big brother!

I Love You!

Mom!

A Blur of the Past and Present~

Where, Oh Where Have I Been?

Oh Gosh!

Let's See, do you ever have a couple of weeks where days, hours and minutes just run together? That's where I've been, time has been a blur.

A blur of the past and present.

Everyday, I see my precious daughter getting healthier and healthier. Her personality is blooming and I'm like a sponge soaking her up.

I go through moments of desperately wishing that I could have done something to have her this healthy much earlier in her life so that she could have experienced the last three years this happy and healthy.

Then I come to the present and I'm so very thankful that she's healthy now.

So, I'm off playing with play-dough, making brownies, stringing beads, drawing with markers, water painting, opening and closing containers (good for fine motor skill development), writing on the sidewalk with sidewalk chalk, reading lots of books, going to the park, making and sharing hot chocolate, practicing cutting with scissors, giving and getting lots of hugs and kisses and saying and hearing, " I Love You" a trillion times a day.

Most of all, I'm being Mommy...exactly what I want to be.

Candy, Presidential Update, Candy, Presidential Update, Candy

We have too much left over candy and I need an excuse to get rid of it.

It seems like everytime they have another "live update", I have a fun size!

Update, funsize, update, funsize!

I could watch the Home & Garden Channel but that would just remind me of how non-creative and crafty I am so I think eating candy is better.
